Will developers go extinct...?
Just kidding, that's not happening anytime soon. But let's talk about the paradigm of no-code methodologies 👩💻
Welcome back to another Startup Sitdown, a weekly Friday series where I provide my thoughts about some interesting startups from the past week 💭
Theme of today’s Sitdown: the recent explosion of no-code platforms 💥
Let’s get straight into it ⬇️
A prominent directional arrow of progress is the reduction of friction/overhead and an increase in efficiency 📈
In other words, businesses are never going to revert back to slower, more menial ways of doing things. So it’s a directional arrow of progress.
This aligns with a critical question on the minds of many startup founders: How can we create an effective minimum viable product [MVP] with as little time and money as possible?
The answer lies in no-code, off-the-shelf solutions.
Two no-code platform startups that have been on my radar this past week are:
Kinetix 🖥️
2-year-old Paris-based startup enabling creators to turn any video into a 3D animation with their no-code platform.
Recently raised $11 million in funding
Composer 🎵
Trading platform that lets users build, test & manage automated investment strategies without writing a single line of code.
Total funding = $5.4 million to date
Top 3 Takeaways 🤔
Kinetix (along with other startups like Scapic and Geenee) is combining two high-growth paradigms: (1) the metaverse and (2) no-code.
The metaverse democratizes new realities where anybody can create & add value.
This democratization is further catalyzed by no-code methodologies because these various applications of the metaverse become not only limitless but infinitely scalable.
No-code platforms are helping to increase job accessibility to the general population.
We see this in Composer where they are gamifying and simplifying the process of building a hedge-fund like portfolio strategy 💰
No-code platforms are also capitalizing on another high-impact trend: automation
We can see this marriage between automation and no-code in companies like Switchboard + Zapier.
All in all, paradigms are not isolated incidents as we can see by the cross-pollination of all these different high-growth trends. They are amalgamations of two or more things that are old. This is, after all, the essence of invention.
